How do I make the final touches on my furniture makover?
I painted furniture first with flat brown water based paint then coated with watered-down paints in many different colors on different areas of furniture. They look great. They look very much like they were chalk/milk-painted which I aimed for - the muted tones. Now, the question is should I seal them with matte water-based polycrylic or should I wax them? If wax, how do I do that? What kind of wax?

Hi Amy the wax allows you to paint chalk paint over it.
I can’t speak to wax but a matte finish poly would be great and likely last longer.
If you wax with clear or colored wax it will be very difficult to make changes in the future. I would use a matte finish spray. Because you have used acrylic and not chalk paint you have the very best of both worlds. Chalk paint does not set or completely cure for about five weeks. With what you did you are good to go. Way to go!
Three coats of a water based polyurethane.
Thank you all.
Use polycrylic. Polyurethane will yellow over time.
Ok Emy. Thanks.
