Yore google 'rain proof outdoor extension cover". I just did, and you will get lots of answers and pictures.
I wrap mine, but live in CA where it hardly rains. Here are better ideas:

Perhaps you could get a longer extension cord. It may be safer to just buy one so that you only need to use the one and make sure that it is an outdoor one and that it will handle whatever you are using it for.
Home Depot sells "cases" specifically for waterproofing extension cord connections. They're also good for cold climate usage.
