How to dye leather dining room chairs?

I ordered filler for the cracked spots. I would like to stain the leather. It's cream color leather and very porous. I just finished a leather chair with what they called a dye. I feel it was more of a paint. I worry how it will hold up. I would like to finish the dining room chairs with more of a natural stain that is absorbed into the leather. I want to finish with a rust color.

Marcia, I am sending you several videos on this subject. Some use a paint mixture and some a dye. You can watch their successes and their failures so you don't make the same mistakes. There are several products on the market.
