How do you make scratches on hard wood floors look less noticeable?
I had my solid Oak hardwood floors refinished 3 years ago right before I rented the house. We recently moved in and I notice there are scratches on the floor here and there. What is the best way to smooth them out or what can I rub on them to make them less noticeable?

Hi Karen! I would suggest this product and a cleaner they also make for scratched hardwood floors:

All you need to do is bring a half gallon of water to a boil on the stove and then steep eight black tea bags in the water for 10-15 minutes. Squeeze out any water from the tea bags and then let it cool to room temperature. Then grab a rag and apply a small amount to your floors. The Tannins in the tea can enhance the warm coloring of the wood and help hide small scratches, and black tea derived from the Camellia Sinensis plant contain polyphenolic compounds that prevent microbial growth. Be sure to sweep or vacuum the floor before you begin to wipe it down, and test it on a small, inconspicuous spot on your floor to make sure it looks how you want it to.

Hi Karen. Rubbing walnuts into the scratches worked for me. Quick and easy.
Karen, Your statement doesn't make sense. Refinished the floors, 3 years ago, but just moved in. Try Old English, its a stain, you'll need the light colored one for oak. You can find it in the supermarket, in the cleaning isle. Follow the directions on the bottle, it comes with a pink cap. Make sure the floor is clean and dry. Aloha!
