  • Try using straw as mulch, Linda.

If you have old yoga mats or thin carpet, cut strips and put them around the plants.

Any garden is work, just need to hand pull when they get 2-3's and the soil is wet they'll come up easiest, make sure the roots come up too. Don't add anything that may have seeds in it mulch, straw, compost. Never let any weeds get seed heads on them. For pest control use live Lady Bugs & Preying Mantis Egg cases & Nematodes(for soil). You can get any/all of them online, I use Arbico Organics or High Sierra Lady Bugs & it's fun to let them go & watch them hatch in garden.

Nothing I'd want to have on plants or leached in soil then eat. Vinegar, salt will most likely burn the delicate strawberries or wreck soil. Maybe you could get someone to help pull weeds in exchange for strawberries
