How do I get rid of all the weeds in my front yard?
My front yard is full of weeds, no grass in sight. I have put weed killer on it and the weeds grew larger. I have two dogs that have been helping me dig up the weeds. I can not afford for a Lawn Care Specialist to help. I live in South Georgia and the soil seems to be awful. Odd thing is on the side of my property l have ST. Augustine grass growing! I also have 5 pecan trees in the yard that produced pecans last year but nothing this year. This is my second year here and l am ready to cement the whole yard!

Don't! You just need to learn how to care for what you have. Stay away from most commercial weed killers, they can be harmful to your dogs. Don't even get me started on Round Up.
Pecan trees are alternate droppers. One year they bear loads of fruit and alternate years none or very few.

Another alternative would be to explore Xeriscaping. Can be achieved in any climate and look outstanding while being low maintenance and minimal watering.
Hi LaLa! I know what you are going through and it is very hard to say the least. One thing about weeds they will grow anywhere at any time. My husband goes over our yard many times with weed killer. He is doing a great job of it, but you have to really keep at it. Please take a look at these links and perhaps they will give you some information.

Home Depot:
The proper time for overseeding is upon us and here is what we need to do to get ready. Late August and early September are the ideal time for seeding your lawn. Lets kill those weeds with some Round Up. You are safe to overseed a lawn 7 to 10 days after spraying Round Up (Glysophate), where as other herbicides require a longer wait. About 4 or 5 days after spraying the grass with Round Up you will want to cut the grass (weeds) as low as you can with the mower. If the soil is hard and compacted, then you will need to rent a core aerator from your Home Depot and aerate it .
Aeration will soften up the soil, allowing your new grass to get a strong, deep root system established, which in turn will require less maintenance. In Colorado, most people use Bluegrass. For it is a strong grass when having to deal with the drought that much of Colorado is experiencing, it is one of the best at bouncing back when under duress. I would recommend putting down a mixture of Bluegrass and Perennial Rye Grass, for this will help your lawn against diseases and make it much more tolerant to wear and tear with foot traffic.
When you put down your seed, you will want to put down a starter fertilizer with it. This has a high middle number which is your Phosphorus. This is what is in charge of establishing the root system of your new lawn. You will also need to throw some wheat straw over the seed to hold it in place, keeping it from washing away and to hold much needed moisture to the seed. It is crucial that you keep the seed watered for the first 2 months to get seed properly established, where you can then cut back some on the water afterwards. Swing by the store and let us get you everything you need.

Who says your front yard has to be grass? Landscape with large gravel or colored rock. Just be sure to lay down weed barrier first. You could add some ornamental grasses for a beautiful effect. Check out this site for ideas: https://www.thespruce.com/easy-ornamental-grasses-to-plant-now-2736709

There are in excess of 10,000 suits on file in CA courts alone with more every day. How many in your state? Not worth the risk to children, pets and elderly.
Great info from Naomie. Has been determined Round Up causes Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. The rest of the world has banned it except for the USA.
Try finding a local DIY lawn store. I have one in my area where I'm able to purchase professional grade materials to use on my lawn that's 100 times better than getting it at a home improvement store. They'll also be able to guide you on what exactly you need, how much, how often, etc.
Salt, soap, vinegar, and a bit of water in a spray bottle. Apply to the weeds in/on a sunny day so the solution can be absorbed by the plant.
pour whie vinegar on weeds to kill them. It works G R E A T !
