We always started our Christmas projects with sugar cookies -actually made them every holiday with my kids year round. Popsicle stick decorations are fun too using glitter and paint.

Use to do some fun things with clay and cookie cutters too that also ended up being painted.

Construction paper is perfect for homemade cards. This is really great and a simple way for kids to give to others.

Terracotta pots projects are also fun - you can take a simple 4 inch pot and saucer and turn it into a snowman face then store candy inside.

Hope that helps... Most important just enjoy the process of creating.
