How do I repair around kitchen knobs?

My white cabinets are 20+ yrs. Old and look great. BUT, around two knobs the lacquer has worn badly. Any suggestions on how to repair?
Take the knobs off and spray paint them with Rustoleum. I have done this to all my knobs and pulls and they has lasted forever. Never needed a touch up. I did seal with a lacquer top coat.
