How do I get started?
All of my beautiful tools are in OR and it is doubtful I’ll ever get them back. I live in a rural pt in MEXICO. It is hard to find anything with quality.
i was making wind chimes before I moved here, but someone stole my dremel. I want to start on a very easy project. Like hanging pictures on concrete or anything easy.
thanks

Go to your city and see if they can use your talents or a community college where you can teach others in continuing education classes. The cities have community classes and you could offer it and tell students what to bring or the price of the materials are added. Many directions cut it loose and shoot for the moon! You can do it!
Oh my I'm sorry to hear that Margot. Maybe it's worth playing around with other things that you could you use to make those wind chimes of yours that don't require a dremel. We've made a few for our garden using knives, forks and spoons . It's quite surprising how beautiful they sound.
just use hand tools, files, hand drills, hand saws; hack saw, file saw, jewelers saw that's how it was done before any dremels/power tools were invented. Heck find a nice rounded rock & use it as a Dap,or oblong rock as Mallet these can be used on metal scraps to shape them or flatten silverware. Flattened silverware makes great bangles You can make chimes from any scrap materials, metal, silverware, pieces of wood, broken glass or pottery chards, pop bottle caps, scrap wire & metal, bottles glass or even plastic, plastic silverware HAND DRILLS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbKho5xHDKE Need to get different drill bits for what ever you are drilling, glass ceramic, metal, wood FILES & RASPS & RIFFLERS https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xhLHdSDBIHg you can get any of these tools online shipped to you lowcost maybe just paint the concrete wall (if you are allowed) beautiful bright primary colored floral mural it'll give you inspiration to do more. Did you run away? I bet it's beautiful there
TO hang pictures or wind chimes on concrete you could use what is used to wire roots to rocks in bonsai. Make a small pigtail using a stiff piece of copper wire, that is, make a small spiral of the copper wire with the center end projecting outward at 90 degrees to the spiral. Place the spiral against the concrete where you want it and apply crazy glue to both the concrete and wire and sprinkle the wet crazy glue with borax powder [borax is used is a powder soap] (I've herd that baking soda also works but I've never tried that). Once you sprinkle the powder on it makes a instant set and cannot be moved. Bend the projecting wire into a hook or loop and cut off any excess wire and it is ready to use as a hanger. A small spiral the size of a nickle has no problem supporting several pounds of weight.
Thanks to all who responded in a helpful way. I think I lack motivation but now I have a better understanding of what I need to do. Thank you... lost in MX. I need to move back to OR!
