Well I am 68 and in pretty good health, but I wouldn't consider doing it without hiring a contractor that will allow you to help out. If you are going to live in it, there are rules and laws that buildings have to be built to.
there are many modular homes of all sizes available. they are well built and reasonably priced. you would need a foundation and well and septic or public water and sewer, depending on where you live. my friend in Florida had a small handicap home built and she was very comfortable.
Your could buy a tiny house for about 6-10 grand and have it moved there. Just a thought.

Here are some sites for you to study. Even if you build a tiny house or purchase a pre-fab model, the requirements are the same. You need permits, inspections, water, sewer, electricity, gas, phone or internet connection, trash service. Sounds like you have never done this - it is quite an undertaking and very rewarding. Sometimes can be overwhelming, and that is with any large project. Take your time, do your research well before signing on the dotted line for anything.
