How do I make aquarium decor that looks real and is fish-friendly?
The cost of fish and required items you must have to keep healthy fish, are astronomical. In a hobby that should be inexpensive depending on size, is not. A small 10g tank can cost hundreds. Not if you just want cold water fish, water and tank. But we want a beautifully created home for our finned friends. And to reflect our home decor, we need other things. To buy these things can lead to frustration and financial destruction. I've made some rock and pebble decor cheap. Glue the only thing purchased. But now feel so limited on just what I can do. I have seen diy rock background, and my idea of painting the back glass with acrylic paint. Now I need more easy, cheap, and safe ways to make my less expensive tank look as good, if not better, than those I see that hundreds are spent for decor.

Any paint or scenery background should be on the outside of the glass to protect the fish.
Yes fish tanks can be expensive. If you can't afford it, don't buy it. What do you want to make? I wouldn't use glue for anything in a fish tank.
Hi Carolyn! I agree it is very unfortunate that things cost so much just so you can keep your fish and tank clean and great looking. I wish it were not that way. I know it is very expensive and distressing. Hopefully something in the links listed will be helpful.
