Paint is always and simple DIY option for fire places. You could also consider covering it with sheet rock and tile or rock.
Do you have a photo you can share for better advice?
Add sheets of small tile. New mantle & hearth or non at all. Hang picture or TV above.
I have decided to use the Giani Granite Countertop Paint kit to modernize my 1980s fireplace. I am very excited about it because, back in the 1980’s, I lived in a late 1800s mansion. It had five fireplaces and each one was of a different marble and or tile, and I just know it’s going to look beautiful. I do not have pictures because I have not received the kit yet (had to order on line) Maybe you would like to consider that.
I think is going to be beautiful. Thank you !
