Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. sell various sizes of grab bars. All I've seen can be screwed into the tile or other wall materials in the shower.
just do not get the 'suction' type grab bars as they are very unstable and will pull away from the wall-I had a plumber 'install' mine-now very secure
Any hardware or home improvement center will have them. I would hire a licensed contractor or plumber to install. Need to be screws into the studs. The suction cup versions are worthless in my opinion.
Hi, Ann,
Please don't sacrifice quality, when considering grab bars. They should be rated to withstand the weight of a 250 pound person.
Bathroom supply stores will be able to let you view prior to purchase. The finish should never be affected, in better quality grab bars. Look at Moen, Delta, Kohler websites. You need one or more to fit the user's hand size, mounted into wall studs, with anchors. Height of user will dictate height of grab bars.
Ideally, one should be placed at front interior corner, one along sidewall, and one at rear or front entry /exit point from tub. Person should be capable of reaching grab bar should they start to fall, or from seated position in tub.
Hi Annmarie, hope this helps you out, you can purchase these at any home improvement or aids to daily living store. These places will also have installations services as well.
