How can I landscape a back yard that slopes?
I live "on a ledge" and my back yard slopes to a lake. I have fenced off the portion that goes to the lake but my backyard slopes approximately 45 degrees. I don't have a lot of money so the solution must be economical. It is hard to cut the grass because of the slope.

Without seeing a photo of the area, I would stop the grass at the point it starts to slope. Remove the grass on the slope and replace with native plantings (Xeriscaping), to prevent erosion.
Another option is to terrace the area to make it usable, and again, using Xeriscaping principles to landscape the area to be low maintenance and drought tolerant yet prevent erosion.
All can be done over time as budget allows.
