How to update our gold fixtures in our 1999 Manufactured home?

Hi Valerie, yep you can paint them! I've had good results with Rustoleum's hardware spray paint using it in my mom's 90's bathroom by painting out the toilet paper hardware, two towels bars and a robe hook. I uninstalled them first before taking them outside to spray paint them

You should be able to paint them with a product compatible to the construction of the fixture, but you will have to tape and mask off the area around the fixtures so the over spray does not do any damage. Figure out what they are made from and then go from there.

Painting them might work for you.

Before painting your fixtures, check out what's new in your local hardware store or lighting center. You might fall back in love with your classic.

Best method for spray paint is to remove the fixture (turn off power at the braker) and move the project outside.

If you have to do it in place everything needs to be protected including your lungs--so after walls, floors and ceilings are draped off be sure to open windows, turn on vents and wear masks.

If you like a patina finish, you could try a wipe on technique to achieve a look of rustic, aged or oil rubbed bronze. Wiping on paint could be done with the fixture in place but don't under estimate how messy it will be. You still need to mask off all around the area.
