Hang suet in trees far away from the house they would much prefer that and maybe they’ll leave you alone
The woodpecker is probably after ants or termites. Check to make sure your house is clear of those first.
The woodpecker is looking for Barn Bumble Bee larva which he can hear and/or feel vibrations from. The bee drills holds in your fascia boards and lays eggs. Check the bottom edge of the board for holes, upon finding holes spray up in them with insect spray. Have the fascia wrapped with vinyl coated aluminum or treat the boards several times before spring with WD-40(which bees can't stand). The wood pecker is not doing this out of boredom nor thinking your house is a tree, looking for living insect larva in decaying trees his how he exist. Don't blame Woody, Blame the Barn Bee (carpenter Bee).
The wood in your house is infested with insects. The woodpeckers are doing what they do to a tree. Eradication of them is the first issue that has to be addressed. Then replace the section of the board with holes boards with a new section.
