How do I decide on basement flooring?
We are having a ranch home with full basement built and we disagree on basement flooring. One of us feels carpet is best and the other feels luxury vinyl planks would be best. What do you guys think?

Luxury vinyl plank - never worry about water damage - you can always put area rugs on top. Make it doubly water safe with Dri core subfloor!
I agree. Vinyl planks. I always recommend vinyl planks for basements, kitchens, and baths. Waterproof and easy to maintain.
I vote for luxury vinyl planks!
we used large tiles and love it easy to clean and maintain
Even better than vinyl planks is a really top grade sheet vinyl. Some of the best have a 50 yr. guarantee. Our flooring company recommended one with a wood grain look. They come in almost every color of wood stain and you have to look twice to see that it's not real wood flooring. Another benefit is that there are no vinyl planks for spills and pet accidents to seep through. Sheet vinyl is easy to mop and never needs waxing.
I agree with Liz..get the great look and cozyness of a plush area rug..It would be tops!
