How do I refurbish an old metal cabinet with vintage wrapping paper?

Cabinet has one drawer and a door. I have old butterfly wrapping paper. Thinking of lining the inside and painting outside of cabinet

Sounds super cute Michelle!! To make the wrapping paper durable you could apply it with THIS PRODUCT, Mod Podge. As you can see, there are many different varieties and finishes. HERE is a post I wrote when I finished a table like this.
Hi Michelle, Mod Podge will work to put down the wrapping paper. In case you don't know how to use it you just put down a layer of mod podge and the smooth out the paper on top of it. Then coat it with another layer of mod podge. Once it dries you can trim off the excess with a box knife.
I would use a clear polyurethane for a scrubbable and very durable surface as a topcoat. If using mod podge (better for decorative applications) coat with a thin coat. After it dries completely add a second coat. Mod podge is fine to adhere it.
I cleaned mine up real good sanded it lightly to get all the little specks and whatnots off and then wiped it down with a lint free rag and then put on my contatak paper and I cleaned up the draw pull and put it back on and Wallaaa!
