How can I stain my cabinet with with two stains?
I want to stain a cabinet and then use a second colour of stain to stencil a design.Should I use the lighter or darker stain first and should I paint the background colour or the stencil design first?

Light then dark. Stencil the design, paint background, then add design fill in.
Easier to stain darker over lighter. I would pencil in the design, then stain the lighter portion, then the darker portion.
You can only go darker over light stain. Paint what?
