How do I know what’s going on with my freezer?
When I open the door, the light starts to flicker and then the panel,on front says hi temp and door ajar and the code 8. Starting to happen quite a bit now. It is a frost free Westinghouse upright freezer.

Pull out your owners manual and look it up.
Call repair man.
Call Westinghouse with your make and model numbers. They have technicians standing by to help you.
Sometimes due to extreme differences in humidity in the air, or changes in the weather, such as temperature dropping suddenly, the sensors in these freezers (or fridges) can ' get confused' and then don't work properly.
What is the outside temperature where you live? Is it dry or humid in your home? Is there a forced air furnace heating vent near the freezer?
Are there any particular times of the day, or when certain activities are going on in the home, that you notice the freezer is acting up like this?
Check around the back and in any semi open areas (panels etc.) to make sure that it is still dry, and not building up ice anywhere.
Disconnected the power hoping this would reset the circuit. Now it is worse. Every time I open the door now irs shows door ajar and hi temp and the code 8. When I close the door it takes a bit to,come back to the normal code of 8. Calling for repair.
Also goofed up, it is a Frigidaire not Westinghouse.
