Hi, Susanne: Unfortunately, this is probably not a film, but etching from the dishwasher detergent. Try washing the glasses with vinegar and water and drying by hand. Let the glasses soak in the sink with the vinegar mixture for a while. If it is a film, the vinegar will take it off. May take several tries, though. If it does not clear up, then the glasses are etched and will not clear up. Sorry.
Lay an old kitchen towel on the bottom of the sink. Fill with the hottest tap water you have. Place glasses in sink. Add a cup or two of white vinegar. Let soak for an hour or two. Wash, rinse and dry by hand. Should be good as new.
If they aren't etched and you can get it off with vinegar, here's a suggestion for prevention. Add a drop of blue Dawn in the dispenser prior to adding dishwasher detergent.
Using a Rinse Aid in your dishwasher should eliminate this problem.
Wouldn't Dawn be too soapy?
Buy Quantum dishwashing pods. Takes the writing off of my glass measuring cups so it would surely clear cloudy glasses. ;-)
