How do I learn how to install tile?
I've never installed tile and was thinking of taking a DIY class to learn how. I have a rather large master bath, which now has a plywood flooring after I removed the linoleum. I want a professional look, but not sure I want to pay that much money. How easy it it to learn how to install tile?

I learned from my dad. If you are fairly handy.. it is not hard. You can take a class... I personally would hit up a few u-tube videos!! Te pride of you doing it ,,, is huge!
David,
You will never learn how to do it until you just dive into it. Take the class, buy a book, watch a million youtubes, read blogs, make decisions on your method and materials, plan your layout, and go for it. The most nerve wracking thing for me the first time I tiled something (a mud room) beyond thinking I would surely ruin the job was that I obsessed over the consistency of the thinset mortar and probably wasted twice as much as I actually used. Chalk it up to experience. You need the right tools, whether you choose to buy or rent. You will most likely need to make several cuts and I found borrowing a wet saw from a neighbor to be very helpful. There is more than one right way to do this. For me the most difficult part was keeping my grout joints consistent and straight. I used regular spacers and a level, not a fancy system that seems to be out there now.
Try it yourself. Check with Home Depot. They provide all kinds of instructions. They may have a ceramic tile class coming up. And it's free.

Hi David. I'm Cindy. My husband and I have done a few tile jobs. It's not hard to do. Find the center of the room and begin there. That way if you make any cuts, they will end up on the perimeter and not in the middle of the room. Watch a couple tutorials on You Tube to learn specifics. Try to tile something small first, even if it's a piece of wood. Get the hang of doing it first. David, another option is hiring a contractor for this job. You can find one on HomeAdvisor.com. Even if you hire a man to install it, you can buy the materials yourself instead of going thru him. Save money this way. Wishing you all the best David. Good luck.
Don't think, just do it. My dad taught me when I was a teenager. Just choose an easy pattern and nothing too complicated. Take the class at Home Depot and watch tons of different You tube videos. Buy a half sheet of plywood and a few extra tiles to practice on. Take your time, be thorough and follow directions. Then when complete, you can show off to all your friends and be proud. (You now have party money since you installed yourself and not paid a tile contractor.) Brag a little and strut like a peacock. 🌞
