How do you fix a squeaky floor?

The bathroom floor squeaks/creaks no matter where you step. What can be done to fix this?

    It depends on your floor type, and you didn't explain what you have. Hardwood sometimes can have baby powder sprinkled into cracks. Some floors need more screws driven into floor joists. Support from below the floor may need to be beefed up.

    If you can underneath the floor the best way is to use screws to tighten up the areas you are having problems with. Exposed floor joists can be made sturdier by adding supporting braces criss-crossed from one joist to the other. If that is not possible then nailing fine finishing nails into the floor surface into the wood base below will help but may be noticeable.
