Is it already finished ? Or just remodeling an existing one?
You have to be more specific. Perhaps add a picture so people can see what you might be able to do.
You need to box the washer and dryer, the furnace and water heater and the water cut off. You have to put doors on each one. I sealed my floor with water guard from True Value. This keeps moisture from coming up through the floor. Then we glued down tile. This helps with grip for carpet, if you so choose. We then divided the basement into 4 spaces. We built under the steps storage with a light and a door (filled in the back of each step with a board). We built a cedar closet to store off season clothes and boots and a toy closet for games, trains and toys. We have a geat room for play and a shelving room for extra tp, cleaning products, etc.
