How do I rescue an old stained lampshade?
Lamp shade can be expensive. I have a lamp I love and wanted to know what I can do to revitalitize the lamp shade. Can it be spray painted?

Yes, you can spray paint a lampshade. I've done that before when I couldn't find a good replacement shade. The only problem is, you can see sections where I went too heavy with the paint when the lamp is turned on. I just turn that side to the wall. 😉
You have to protect the inside from overspray by lining it with paper and securing with painters tape. If you're painting it a light color, make sure you use a primer first to prevent bleed through from stains. As with any spray paint project, it's better to do several light coats instead of one heavy coat. After your final coat, you may want to seal your shade with a clear coat spray that doesn't yellow.
The other option for painting fabric is chalk paint but it's harder to seal and keep clean compared to spray paint.
I hope that helps!
Sure can. https://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=paint%20lampshade
Is your shade cloth or plastic? If cloth you could be able to STAIN it to suit the color you wish it to be. Plastic? Not sure, maybe spray paint such as Krylon or any other brand of spray can paint.
I have found several, reasonably priced, lampshades at Goodwill. You may have to check back there often to catch it at the right time.

Yes you can spray paint a lampshade, use light coats for best results and to prevent runs. Keep in mind you'll have to protect the inside from overspray. To do that, tape the inside with newspaper of plastic wrap. Or just covering the openings on the bottom and top will do. Also, keep in mind there will not be as much light coming through after yo paint it.
i would just paint and decoupage some napkins on it
