How do I install a column (pillar) inside my house?
I'm thinking of installing a pillar in my house. My house is a back split and they removed the old looking rod iron metal railing and we have never put it back up. We want to put a column there and maybe some railing eventually. Didn't know if there is a special way to connect it to the ceiling and floor.

Most columns have a special flat or decorative flange which the column sits into and which is screwed to the top and bottom, wherever you are installing it.
Home Depot & Lowes have a kit that you can buy. I'm not sure by your question if you need it to be a load bearing column?
Then I would get the kit. Super easy to do. You also should try online and you will get a bigger selection to choose from.
