How do I get a weathered look on wood furniture?
Does anyone know if I can get a weathered look on wood furniture if it's stained without having to sand it back to raw wood?

Hi ! Yes , I think you should be able to ... The methods might different depending on what color they are stained. First get some gray stain , and on a part of the furniture, like the underside , apply some of the gray stain and see how it looks , might be fine ..another method is to use 2 tones of chalk paint , like light & medium gray , or gray and beige , or gray and white... Paint the darker color first , after it dries do the top color , after it dries lightly sand areas letting the bottom color come through , just here and there . Then if it's indoor furniture use sealing wax in clear of antique finish. If it's for outdoor use look for a clear coat finish , either spray or paint on , made for outdoor use . Good luck !!!

Rub a candle over the areas you want to distress. Then paint it in your preferred color with chalk paint. Chalk paint adheres well without sanding or a primer. When that’s done...probably 2 coats....sand the furniture where u applied the candle wax. The wood will show through where the candle wax was applied. Chalk paint is a great product.
