Normally when you buy a new fixture there are good directions that come with the fixture. Here is some more information: https://www.thespruce.com/how-to-replace-ceiling-light-fixture-1824657
Marilyn,. Unless your an electrician, leave the job to him. Go online to Home Advisor or Angie's list to find one. Aloha!
I second the electrician, especially if you have an older house.
If you’re asking this question, yes, call a local handyman to do it. If it’s heavy, you may need a more study light box. Don’t chance a house fire.
I agree with getting an electrician.
There are a myriad of different light fixture styles, but sometimes it is quite easy to change one out.
Is the one you want changed on a ceiling or wall? Is it suspended or flush mounted? Is it covered or open?
