Penny Wall Stove Backsplash
Amy, Call a craft store, and ask what is the best glue to use so, if you want in the future to take it down you don't ruin. your walls. Aloha!
You could cut plywood to fit the backsplash areas. Glue the pennies to the plywood and then adhere or tack the plywood to the wall. That would give you the future option to remove the penny backsplash without major issues to the standing wall.
You could use liquid nails, but it may be difficult to remove later down the road.
