How do I prepare the dirt/soil for a healthy and lively planting?
I recently moved, the front and back yard dirt/soil seems to be old and unhealthy. What can I do to prepare the dirt/soil for a healthy and lively planting ?

For gardens, if there are no existing plants, shrugs, etc. that you want to keep, figure out the dimensions of the garden/gardens you want to have and put down hose, string, whatever for the shape you want. Till in a good amount of potting or garden soil, sterilized manure and peat moss to give your plants, etc. a good start. Top soil is basically just soil with no amendments to help plants thrive and also has some clay in it also, so it is not a good choice unless you are planting grass.
We have awful dirt where we are. I built raised garden beds for my veggies and put a nice mix of soil, compost, peat moss, etc. in it. I'm going to add more compost early April before planting my cool weather crop
