How can you replace vinyl in the bathroom without removing the toilet?

Not a good idea. It's not hard (just heavy) to remove and replace a toilet. Just remember to get a new wax ring to reseat the toilet.

No. Any water on the floor can seep under the toilet. Also not good to caulk around the toilet either. It will trap any moisture and your floor will rot over time.

Trying to replace flooring without removing what is under the toilet is inviting problems down the road. However, there are good reasons to caulk a toilet. Do some research and decide what will work best for you. A good compromise is to caulk most of the base of the toilet around the front and the sides, but leave a few inches in the back uncaulked.
