Can I prune yet?
I have a wisteria vine that needs pruning.is it too early?I live in Va beach Va.unfortunately,the weather has been like a rollercoaster...40 one day,70the next.I know we are not out of the woods for freezing temps yet.So,it already looks like it is starting to bud up.Also,can I prune my butterfly bushes.thanks.

I have pruned and cut wisteria for wreath making all year long. Fall , summer, winter. I used to live in Ohio and had an unbelievable amount of it. Wisteria will take over. So have at it and have fun. Very hard to kill. I think one has to literally dig up the roots .
Well, all I can say is the Wisteria are almost kill proof!! Honestly, I have been trying to get rid of mine for over 4 years and it still grows back. Yup, seriously. It was taking over the whole flowerbed and choking plants underground, so no, I'd wait until after the next full moon in March before pruning. At least it's Spring on the calendar. So, in other words, don't worry, it'll survive the apocalypse!
Oh, and the worse of it all, is the darn thing never even bloomed for me! Just grew and grew and …… like a Jack and the Beanstalk. It had to go....
