What's the best flower/plant to grow in Texas?

Sunflowers are easy to grow from seeds. I plant a lot of them and thin them out as they grow.
For continuous blooms, plant seeds about every 2 weeks.

I feed the wild birds black oil sunflower seeds. They come up all over the place and I just let them grow. I am in zone 9 where it is hot and dry most of the year.
First decide on a variety -Johnny Selected seeds has many to choose from then prep the soil and plant the seed. They will grow with little attention and most of the time planting tips are on the back of the seed package.
