just be aware that most 'home made' products only kill the 'green' and are not absorbed into the root system to kill the entire plant; however, if you keep repeating the application, eventually the plant will die from lack of nutrients provided by the leaves. You may have better luck if you spray when they first appear, before they have opportunity to set seeds and reproduce.

We mix a gallon of white vinegar with 2 cups Epsom Salts, and 1/3 cup Dawn dish soap (blue kind) and spray on the weeds in our drive. Be advised it will kill any plant so be selective where it is sprayed. Apply after the dew has evaporated in the morning and leave in the sun all day. By night fall the weeds will be dead. We have a friend killed that killed all the poison ivy in his back yard this way. We use ours in our driveway.

SYSTEMIC WEED KILLER: One gallon white vinegar. One cup salt. One tablespoon Dawn. Heat vinegar up to boiling point. Remove from stove and add salt. Stir till dissolved. Let cool and add Dawn. Stir gently. Pour in to sprayer. Spray weeds. Be patient. Wait two weeks and spray again if needed and/or the weeds you missed. Remember, this is a systemic weed killer so it takes time for it to reach the end roots. If spraying close to flowers, shrubs, etc., use a piece of cardboard. Place it on the ground and up against the weed...then spray. Kills everything it touches.
