How do I get cigarette smoke stains out of a wall?
I rented a home that has smoke stains in one room. The wall is semi gloss white paint. What would I do to solve this?
Vinegar! If really bad you might need to use TSP.
Tsp and a sponge mop. My dad smoked like a chimney..had to wash all the walls to get his deposit back from his apartment. Wear gloves when dealing with the cigarette residue.
Norwex Cleaning Paste would do it!
Hi, Do you know how thick the paint layer is? If the paint layer is thin, too much scrubbing might go through to the sheet rock. If this is a rental, you sure don't want to do that. I would try a Mr. Clean sponge to start with and see how that does. If that doesn't work then you could go with something a little stronger. I would also recommend that what ever cleaner you try, use it in an unconspicuous area such behind a door first and let it dry to make sure you are not causing any damage. Remember easy does it on the scrubbing unless you want to guarantee yourself a paint job.
Wash the walls first then paint with kiltz primer
Wash first with vinegar and water. Use a clean sponge mop and make sure it is not too wet so it does not destory sheetrock. Then let dry over night. For added protection, paint over with KILZ which will get rid of any stubborn stains and then paint walls your favorite color.
lived with smoker 2 packs a day 20yrs....Bleach the stronger the better or TSP probably need to use Kilz or Zinsser primer after cleaning well.
