NO wax Begonias with bronze leaves are the most sun tolerant but that doesn't mean anything past partial-sun especially in zone 9 they cannot tolerate the heat & sun
Hi, Lynn - there are some tropical begonias, but they don't look like what we are used to seeing! Check out a good nursery to see if they are available there. They can take the heat and humidity, but perhaps not direct sun.

Check with your local garden nursery about flowering vinca (not the vine) plants. I have better luck with them than begonias or impatiens.
