Planted flowers from seeds, they've come up but their tall and thin. They have two leads so far but I'm hoping they fill out (like the plants from stores). Any suggestions would be wonderful

Spray weekly with a micro nutrient. It is amazing what it will do to help their growth.

The plants are desperate for light. Get them to the light asap or they will did.

They should get thicker. Usually they are spindly from being in smaller pots they are started in. Once the roots can spread out they do get fuller. Good Luck.

They might be reaching for light. Are they inside? If so, they probably need more light for more hours...artificial light or move outside for as many hours possible with protection from wind and cold. I have large windows but always had tall weak plants from seeds until I switched to plant lights for the initial starts.

Hi Sue! Sounds like you are doing the right thing. Only thing I do different is that mine are about 2'' from the light source. This gets tricky if I have many heights to my plants...different veggies and flowers started different times. I prop them up on various objects to get them really close to the light. My light is fluorescent and does not seem to be hot enough to dry out the plants...just saying be watchful for too much heat :)

there are all spindly looking when really young as long as they are standing up they are fine they will get bushy thicker as they grow just make sure they are not crowded and roots not showing above soil-just add some soil lightly sprinkled on top if they are showing-not too much all at once & not directly up against the new stem/stalk tap it down gently just give them time they need, sounds to me like they are doing great you don't really say where you live?climate? Cold area?...you have a ways to go til they can go outside so I hope you can pull lights up as they get taller.Old garden rule"don't plant til after Mothers Day". If you let the flowers heads die all the way & dry on the plant then collect them you'll have tons of seeds to collect for new flowers next year. Wear gloves with the Hollyhocks they have fine hairs on them that are very irritating to the skin. Marigolds are susceptible to spider mites so keep your eye on them/the leaves. you should check into buying live Lady bugs for your garden when it gets nice & warm great way to be rid of pests in garden also Praying Mantis Egg cases,Green Lacewing,Earthworms to add to soil.
