What would you do with these?
I have 4 of these bat stools that I bought from a bar that is now closed. I paid $10 each. All 4 seats swivel like they should. Vinyl is not too bad. 3 have one or two small rips. Looking for thoughts, ideas, and photos of something you may have done similar to these. Thank you!!

I had a round stool and at a garage sale I found a round cover with elastic around it. Looked good and worked fine. Are your rips on the seam? Maybe an upholstdry shop could help
You.
Hi Liz, Here's a neat tip to clean up the legs. Get some reynold's wrap, loosely wad it up, dip it in cola or even water would work and clean the legs. It will remove any rust they may have and clean them up nicely. Looks like you have quite a collection of bar stools. It really depends on the theme of your room and the look your going for. I live in Florida, and if they were mine, I would get a few yards of turquoise faux crocodile upholstery fabric and recover the seats. Here's a link. I'm not endorsing the page, just wanted you to see the fabric: http://www.fabricempire.com/vinyl-crocodile-dark-turquoise-fake-leather-upholstery-fabric-by-the-yard.aspx
But if you could give me some idea of the look your going for, I would be happy to help!
Have fun!
At Auto parts stores, they have vinyl repair kids, that really work well. You’ll need to follow the directions carefully obviously. They also have vinyl dye, that is more like a bonding paint, and I’ve use that on car seats- it works very well too.
they are beautiful! how about cleaning up the legs to get them super shiny and covering with a red seat cover? or tone it down a bit with teal or depending on your décor use a barn red cover.
Once you have completed revamping the stools (possibly in a light blue color), you could add a bunch of these to the bottom ring. They would make the stools look very festive! Or you could "google" vintage shower rings or whatever style you like and add them to the bottom ring. I am assuming you want to keep them as functioning bar stools. If so, the other sage posters have helped. But...if you don't or never thought you could do anything else, here are some "out of the box" ideas. Plant stands, mini coffee stands, night stands (with a stable top), table base, etc.
I have even seen people use them for storing long things like Christmas wrap, etc. Just a thought or two.

I would buy faux fur cut to fit seat and use brass/silver/tacks around edge. Buy good fluffy fur.
If these were mine, I would clean up the legs and cover the seats with an outdoorsy pattern (flowers, animals, etc.), then put them on my porch (or a patio) with a high top table.
If you wish to recover the seats, I can tell you how to do it, if can sew or if you can't. Let me know if you need directions.
Another use might be to remove cover & padding of seat. Keep the wood top & mount a solar light on top & use them outside for lighting wherever you need the lights. Add a little shelf to the lower leg braces & put a plant or garden piece on it. Good part is that you can move them around for special events where extra light is needed.
Hope this helps.
i would clean chrome and restore, paint cushion or make new in vinyl red, stencil coka cola in white and voila easy serenaleagh, tailem bend south australia easy is best if u dont like coke could be anything ta
Depending on what you really want; however they make great garden seedlings tables... decent fibro plastic cut into a round shape about a metre all round... placed another wood frame over the seat ( so it sits over it as a base with the top attached...) this is great for areas that require ‘you’ to move ones plants around.
Additionally the same idea makes for sturdy party tables, that can be packed away in garage or small areas as the whole top comes off. Always use a spray primer & rust paint for the metal parts~ you can change colors or paint the same colour, though a touch -up is a good idea for rust that can’t be seen thus keeping the metal stronger ; clean first with white vinegar:)
I think if they were cleaned up and the upholstery replaced, they might make a really cool beginning to a 50s theme kitchen or restaurant. You did not say where/how you plan to use them. Or, you could change the upholstery to the colors already in your house and make a breakfast bar.
Two other ideas:
1) I also like the idea of changing the seat cover - wonder if a toilet seat cover (with a nice pattern) would pull right over
2) for more color paint legs/rungs with wide stripes of colors matching seat top
