Baby powder. Ants walk across it and it is like glass to their legs. Once cut, they go off to die. Safest way I know. Also the stuff you use in your pool filter, Something earth. Works well also.
Yes! That is the one. Just could not think of the name. Same as glass if the ants walk on it. I had also used this on carpenter ants and it worked and they were outside in an old tree stump years ago. My husband wanted to burn the stump to get rid of it but I was afraid if he did they would scatter all over and get into our home. I did the diatomaceous earth and they all dies after a few weeks. Their were thousands. We then burned it out and no more ants.
If you can locate their trail and how they're getting to the counter. Sprinkle Jiffy Muffin mix inside lower cabinets, along baseboards. They take it back to the nest. They can't digest it and die.
Agricultural grade Diatomaceous Earth, sprinkled where you find ants will cut open their bodies, causing them to die. Wipe all areas with distilled white vinegar to destroy their scent trails. Scrub out all cabinets. Install liner paper and secure all food items, including salt.
I have had good luck using sugar, water and borax powder. I wiped mine out in less than 48 hours. Turns out I had a nest under the window trim. If you can't use the cotton balls just put a drop or two out of the way and it will work. I even had good results from leaving a little dish of the mix on the counter.
Mix 1/2 C sugar, 1 1/2 Tbsp Borax, and 1.5 C warm water.
Soak cotton balls in the mixture, and put them out near the mess of ants.
The sugar attracts the ants, and they'll take the Borax with it back to their home.

I use packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.

Medicated powder from the Dollar Tree. It has eucalyptus in it...menthol...I puff it around my homes foundation..and inside under my birdcages in the cracks under moldings. Work immediately and they never come back. I do this at the first sign of ants..in one day..GONE. The powder is in a very large container and lasts quite awhile too !! And smells great !

Ants are so weird. One time I found them inside the freezer in the garage!! What would possess them to go inside a freezer only to die? They must have sent signals back or something ~ there were no ant trails only a freezer full of dead ants. Hasn't happened since.
