The wood wagon is about 18 inches. What can I put in it that watering plants in it would ruin the bottom. Would rain ruin silk flowers? Want something original.

Silk flowers will probably have to be replaced quarterly due to fading in the sun more than rain damage. That's how often I replace the flowers on my FIL's headstone. They hold up better in the winter than spring - fall. It's also a good reason to update with seasonal or holiday decor. I always do cotton in the fall because he was a farmer. You can get pin wheels from Dollar Tree and other cute little decor items to add. I just picked up some bunnies for my door for $1/sign.

Consider sealing it since rain and other weather will still create a problem. You could also line it with a plastic container.

As long as there are space in the floor the excess moisture from rain will run out, but you can lay down a piece of cardboard, plastic bag or something similar to help keep it clean from the pots. The rain will not spoil silk flowers but the sun will bleach them.

  • You can apply a marine outdoor varnish to the surface.
