How do you warm up a room?
I'm painting my master BEDROOM benjamin Moore's owl gray which is very light (the room was chocolate brown) yuk! The ceiling was a dark beige. It is now Chantilly lace. It's 3/4 done. I love it and my husband HATES IT ! He says it's cold and fridged. The room has tons of natural light. I'm planning to make mint green plaid curtains. What else can I do to warm it up?

Hi, i am in the same boat, i told my hubby i want to paint everything white and he looked at me like i am crazy. but I am not so i am.
you can warm up the space with warm pictures, wood and curtains. ask him to let you finish and then he can make a judgement. good luck!
To give it a warm and comfortable feel, use material, like a seat or love seat if you've room, lamps, warm colors for accents (yellow, orange, reds, browns, light browns) , plants, sitting area with books, a lap blanket over the corner or back of a chair, an area rug, candles, or any thing to give it a cozy feel. Some people buy a fireplace with mantel electric fire to put on one wall if they have room. This adds a cozy feel too, esp if it is in a sitting area. Don't forget aroma therapy type candles or scents help too. Even a small bouquet or wreath can be laced with aromas or herbs. Maria, I hope this gives you some ideas.
Well since the room has just been painted, yes it looks cold and depressing. Once you add your furnishings and decor, that will soften it up. Drapes, comforter or bedspread, a few accent pillows, a throw, wall art, lighting will bring it all together.
Besides the decor suggestions, consider changing your light bulbs to warm lights.
Natural items like wood and wicker can add warmth to a room. Good lighting, textures and accents in warm colors also help. Look at rooms painted in similar colors and see how they made it work.
Grey can be a cold, depressing color. Add shots of brighter blues, or darker greens, which should appeal to your husband. Your choice of mint green continues on the lighter side. More intense color tones will significantly warm the space. I'd avoid red, which can result in a Christmas look to some people, and yellows, which most men appear also to dislike.
