How to get rid of this weird weed?
Help! what is the name of this weed that grows in abundance. It grows long, resembles an evergreen, but the stem has stickers. The root has grape shape nodules in abundance. The root is hard to pull up and the weed spreads just below the surface of the ground. It is a nuisance.

Hi any chance you can post a picture and where are you so I know what hardiness zone you are in. Thanks

sounds like a type of Sedge--highly invasive really extremely hard to be rid of---spray with Round-Up you will need to continue spraying until all are dead spray everytime a young one(2"-3" tall) begins to grow. do not break off roots. put food coloring in the Round-Up so you can see where you are spraying,do not spray in any breeze or wind, wear disposable gloves,do not get in wet solution, spray with nozzle directly down on plants leaves-the Round-up is absorbed thru leaves into plant thru stem killing root system. yes it's a hazardous chemical it says so on container just follow safety precautions they have been printed on the label for a reason. do not let anything-you,kids,pets get in wet solution.
You could use plain white NON-TOXIC vinegar, it will kill down to the roots any plant it touches. Roundup is a poison that finds it way into the soil and contaminates the surface as well as the water underneath, it finds it's way into the rivers ponds, and streams....eventually contaminating the drinking water.
