I would use a chalky paint like Fusion Mineral Paint that adheres to metal. You can also find a chalky paint in the local craft store. You can change that old lamp into a bright beauty!

90 years old is a pretty old lamp. Before you do something to devalue it, check and make sure that it's not worth a lot of money. If it is, sell it and buy whatever you like.
