Simple DIY Shutters
My Dad took 1x6 treated lumber and cut the pieces to the length of the windows then put a cross piece across 3 pieces and screwed them together. He then painted them a deep blue (My Mothers color choice) and let them dry. As the shutters were just for looks and not to be closed he then screwed them fast to the siding next to windows. Good solid shutters that lasted a long time. He was going to cut their Initials in them but Mom wanted the shutters plain. I should mention that as he used treated lumber he had to wait a bit before he painted them. You could also stain and varnish them if you prefer that look.
