How do I make my aluminum windows slide easier?




I'm new to the apt. scene, i have sliding aluminum windows that do not slide easily. What is my easiest and cheapest fix, WD40, 3 in 1 oil???

Hi Glen, yep I'd definitely try WD40 after thoroughly cleaning them.
Clean the tracks and then you can add oil to them. Try white grease because WD40 will dry after time and make the issue worse.
WD40. Any oil based products will attract dirt and get gummy. If there is dirt build up WD40 will also loosen it up so you can remove it. A toothbrush woks great in the tracks and paper towels to wipe it out.

Personally I would use WD-40 - It's my go to............... I think you could also use spray polish on the track too. Good luck!
Treat with a lubricant. There are a variety of lubricants you can use for aluminum windows, but a silicone-based lubricant that will not corrode the metal is a good choice. Spray the lubricant in the window tracks, and move the panes back and forth to spread the lubricant over the parts you cannot spray.
