Hi Robbie,
Cheapest way is to use Old Pallets. They can be sanded down and stained.

Most communities have building codes - so it the deck is truly to be above ground, it gets involved. But a paver patio requires no building permits.
Define "cheap?" Decks are anything but "cheap." Plus anything attached or abutting a structure requires a permit in most areas. Save your money until you can do it right. Or consider other options.
I had the same question. The project I am currently working on is an inexpensive mock deck. I am usually the creative one but this time my husband totally nailed it! We have laid down to Wood fences back-to-back. First we leveled out the ground and then added pavers Under support beams. I also added three additional two-by-fours across the entire back for additional support. Very sturdy when you walk on it and I know once I stain it it's going to look amazing. I'm also going to add one by threes surrounding the base so it looks more finished as well as trellis fencing for an enclosed look. Good luck! I'll post my finished project in a couple of weeks!
