Contact the business that covered the chair and explain this to them. They should be able to help.
Hi there,
Not sure because I have never had that problem - You could call the upholsterer and ask them for advice, or Clear the pilling with sellotape and either Us a spray on upholstery sealer or use clear wax as is used for painted upholstery Hope that is of some help to you.
I think you need to contact whoever reupholstered it. If they are a reputable business, they should be willing to fix it.
It could be the type of fabric you or the upholsterer picked rather than the upholstery job. I re-upholstered a chair a few years ago for someone but she brought me the wrong fabric. I did tell her the fabric was more for curtains and not upholstery but she still wanted it. I was worried when I did the job it wasn't going to hold up because of that reason. When you buy fabric for the upholsterer, you always want to buy upholstery fabric. some curtain fabric is definitely not tough enough for regular use. It might be fine if it doesn't get sat in very much but for a lot of traffic...ALWAYS UPHOLSTERY FABRIC! If you are unsure in the fabric store, ask! If the upholsterer picked the fabric, they might have been trying to save money by using a cheaper fabric. Try to depill it, maybe use a scotch guard to extend the life. Sorry this happened...upholstery is expensive to get done and the last thing you want is a crappy fabric that breaks down.
