Use Awesome cleaner purchased at the Dollar store. Costs 1.00 and cuts grease.
Try cleaning with some Dawn dishsoap and hot water. Use a kitchen scrubber and scrub in circular motions, rinse with clean water, dry with a dish towel. You might consider mounting something behind your stove in that area to keep the grease spots off the wall. You could use some Command Poster strips to mount something lightweight. You can buy lightweight tin tiles that would work well.
My stove set up is the same way. I just blot the wall with vinegar and water. Vinegar and baking soda if it gets icky. Typically when someone else cooks and doesn't use a splatter screen.
Fantastic and 409 are both good at getting grease off of a painted wall. Don't wet the cloth first with water, though.
dawn dish soap hot water and wash cloth
Spray Nine is amazing at removing grease. We mounted a large piece of plexiglass behind our stove. We drilled a hole in each corner and used decorative screw holders like you use to mount mirrors. We had this in place for years. It's inexpensive and wipes off easily.
Spray Nine can be purchased at Home Depot or Walmart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Spray-Nine-Heavy-Duty-Cleaner-Degreaser-Disinfectant-26811/162527680?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42423897272&wl4=pla-51320962143&wl5=9010019&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=162527680&wl13=&veh=sem&gclid=Cj0KCQjw-tXlBRDWARIsAGYQAmduuEOg7xBBCGEe4UGJ7vR5QCAZEmQ0ip8f0UMV3GIdgiBSuHPUPyYaArBkEALw_wcB
I like a degreaser you find in an automotive area, like Simple Green. You can get it in a spray bottle. I use it to clean my vent hood, which gets grease buildup.
Since I have it around I use Dawn dish liquid and hot water with a sponge. At the same time I wipe everything else down. Why buy something you already have available?
What type of paint is on the wall? You can scrub a semi-gloss, but less glossy paints are less durable. Any cleanser that is a de-greaser should work. I prefer Krud Kutter which is consistently listed in the top picks by ratings groups. What I thought would need scrubbing turned into a spray on and wipe off job.
Thanks everyone for your help!
