Yes, it works! I sprinkle it around the perimeter of the room and in doorways Just make sure pets won't walk in it and lick their paws.

Hi Joyce: This is what I used for my ant problem, it may work for you, too.

Make a mix of 1/2 baking soda and 1/2 powdered sugar. Mix well and put around the spots they are in your garden, or inside your home, it's harmless to people and pets. For outside use, you can put it in a bottle, like a pill bottle or something like that. Cut a hole on the edge of the cap, and lay the bottle on it's side so the ants can come in and get the mix. This way, it stays dry if it should rain. They will take it back to the nest and it should kill them. I'd keep it out there all season if you can. The mix makes a gas and the ants can't pass gas, so it kills them. Anything else that eats it will just taste the baking soda and say "Yuck" and walk off. It won't hurt anything that can pass gas, so it's completely safe.

It helps to know what type of ant you are trying to get rid of, too. Try this site, scrolling down to see the different types of ants and how to deal with them. Good luck.

    Good luck

It’s important to keep in mind that if you’re thinking about using borax powder, ants aren’t attracted to it alone. In order to entice them to bring it back to the colony, you have to mix the borax with some of their favorite foods. The first step is figuring out where the ants are entering your home. The easiest way to find their entrance is to simply follow the trail of ants. When ants find food, they leave behind a pheromone trail so that other ants in their colony can immediately locate the same food and bring it back to the nest. These trails are an ideal place to put your borax bait.Although it seems like ants will eat anything in sight, adult ants can’t digest solid foods and only eat liquids. On the other hand, larvae can process solid foods and turn it into a liquid that the queen will then eat.

For the solid borax ant recipe, you want to use a 1-to-3 ratio you’ll want to mix the borax with powdered sugar. As an example, if you use three-quarters of a cup of powdered sugar, you’ll want to combine it with one-quarter of a cup of borax. Then simply stir the ingredients together to make sure they’re completely's best to use this dry recipe since the worker ants eat only liquid this ensures they will carry it back to the nest instead of eating and dying before they get back to colony.

    Mix borax with sugar.

  • Hi Joyce - Those little buggers are relentless, aren't they?!? This is the most effective method and all-natural spray DIY that we use with ants. It's best indoors, but will also work outside with more frequent applications. Hope this helps! Hugs, Holly
