How can I put up a ceiling cheaply in basement?
I have family that moved in. We needed to finish our basement on a very low budget. I painted the floor and the concrete wall. We used old studs to put up walls. Bought used bathtub and vanity. With the help of our oldest son because we are seniors, made them a bathroom from scratch. Bought some carpet square at closeout bargain store. It's not wonderful, but it was the best we could do. I have wires running everywhere. It needs a ceiling of some kind that is affordable and not to difficult for old folks like us. I'm in my sixty's my husband in seventy's we are very happy to tackle anything you could suggest Thank You, Kathy Cooper

Putting in a ceiling isn't really cheap or easy especially if you have wires running all over the place. I was going to suggest that you buy some lath and run it across the floor joists (ceiling) then buy some of the cheap tiles that you can staple up. You wouldn't be able to take the tiles back down without damaging them if you needed to work on something above them but they might be a possibility.
I usually recommend not enclosing the ceiling. Add recessed lighting then spray everything up there black ceiling paint (except the lights). It's amazing, everything disappears , feels taller, easy access. Very easy.
